Who we are
Kru Rémi Academy (kruremi.com) is run by Rémi, a certified French teacher based in Bangkok, Thailand. This site offers French lessons, free learning content, and paid practice tools for exams such as the TCF Canada. This page explains what data the site handles and why, in plain language.
What we collect
Account details. If you create an account, sign-in is handled by Clerk (our authentication provider). We receive your name, email address, and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
Payments. Purchases are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. We only keep a record of what you bought and which account it belongs to.
Work you submit for feedback. When you use the AI practice tools — for example submitting a written text for correction or recording your voice for speaking feedback — that text or audio is sent to AI providers to generate your feedback and audio (see “Who we share data with” below). We also log usage (which tool was used, how much) to monitor costs.
Learning progress. Test scores and progress are mostly stored in your own browser (local storage). Some usage records are stored on our database (Supabase).
Analytics. We use Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Vercel Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, general location, device type). These tools use cookies or similar technologies.
Who we share data with
We never sell your data. It is shared only with the services that make the site work:
- Clerk — sign-in and accounts
- Stripe — payments
- Supabase — database and audio storage
- Vercel — website hosting and analytics
- Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Speechmatics, Deepgram, OpenAI — AI processing of the text and audio you submit to the practice tools (used to generate feedback, transcriptions, and audio)
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — site analytics
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy and security measures.
How long we keep data
Account and purchase records are kept while your account exists. Usage logs are kept for cost monitoring and are periodically cleaned up. Progress stored in your browser stays on your device and can be cleared by you at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the data linked to your account, correct it, or delete your account and its data. Depending on where you live (for example the EU or Canada), you may have additional legal rights over your data — we honour reasonable requests regardless of where you are.
To exercise any of these, contact us through the contact section of the site.
Children
The site is intended for learners aged 13 and over. Younger students should use it with a parent or guardian.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update this page and the date at the top.
