The essentials
What is the DELF?
DELF stands for Diplôme d'études en langue française. It is awarded by France's Ministry of Education from level A1 to B2, and it tests four skills: Listening (compréhension orale), Reading (compréhension écrite), Writing (production écrite) and Speaking (production orale).
It is a diploma for life: it never expires. Unlike the TCF Canada, which measures your level on a given date for an immigration application, the DELF is mainly useful for study or work.
